Our Journey...
Meewasin Valley United Church began as a community church in 1974 under the name River Heights Community Church.  Worship services and church school classes were held in River Heights Elementary School on Ravine Drive.  The name was modified in 1977 to River Heights Community United Church and in 1985 the present name was chosen.  In 1985 the congregation decided that it was time to build its own building.  Construction began in the fall of 1987 and the dedication of the new church building took place in the spring of 1988.

From the fall of 1990 to January 2007 we were blessed by the ministerial gifts of Rev. Robert and Rev. Betty Lynn Schwab.  Throughout those years the congregation was led, challenged, mentored and lovingly supported by these partners in ministry and marriage.  In January, Betty Lynn was called to serve our national church and Bob retired from active ministry.  We enjoyed a short time with the warm-hearted and thoughtful Pastor Andy Jones.  Our interim minister Rev. Sharon Ferguson-Hood served us for two years.  Sharon is specially trained to aid congregations, like ours, who are in transition.  We now benefit from the wisdom and knowledge of Rev. Lorraine Harkness who is continuing to guide MVUC through this time of transformation.

This is an exciting time for our church.  Just as we all travel on our own personal faith journeys, so we at MVUC are in the process of discovery, as we evolve together into the next phase of our faith journey as a congregation.  The coming years will see this wonderful evolution unfold in all its fullness!
